Brig y Cwm Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Report 2010
The proposed Energy from Waste Facility at Brig y Cwm will be the subject of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). RPS Planning and Development Consultants, on behalf of Covanta Energy, have submitted a request in the form of a Scoping Report to the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) for a Scoping Opinion. The Scoping Report sets out a brief description of the site and the proposed development, together with an explanation of how it is proposed to undertake the EIA.
The Scoping Report was submitted on 4 March 2010, and the IPC’s response is expected within six weeks following consultation with prescribed consultees, including Merthyr County Borough Council and adjoining local authorities including Caerphilly County Borough Council, the Environment Agency Wales, CCW and the Welsh Assembly Government. Following receipt of the Scoping Opinion, Covanta Energy and RPS will prepare the EIA which will be the subject of consultation with local residents and technical consultees later this year.
