11 SEP 2007 - Covanta appoints engineering specialist to boost its UK Development Team

Covanta Energy has appointed David Clayton as Senior Development Manager as it continues its ongoing expansion into the UK market. David will be based at the UK office in the West Midlands and will be working to secure new business opportunities for the company in both the public and private sectors.

David has joined Covanta from SITA UK, where he was Head of Business Development – Collection for the past three years. At SITA, David lead teams responsible for winning a number of local authority contracts on a partnership basis, including Maidstone, Aberdeen and Kensington & Chelsea councils.

David began his career with Robert Jenkins Systems Ltd, after graduating with a Bachelors degree in Engineering from the University of Wales. There he specialised in solid waste incineration equipment including heat recovery. David then went on to become Clinical Incineration Manager for NEM and later, Thermal Treatment Manager before moving into Business Development.

In total, David has nearly 20 years experience in the waste management sector. As Senior Development Manager for Covanta Energy, David will be working to seek out new opportunities for Covanta with local authorities. Covanta currently operates 34 Energy from Waste (EfW) plants worldwide, making it the largest EfW supplier internationally.
