04 APR 2007 - Covanta appoints new Senior Development Manager to accelerate UK expansion

Covanta Energy has appointed Mark Ashby as Senior Development Manager to accelerate its expansion into the UK market. Mark will be based at the UK head office in the West Midlands and will be working to secure new business opportunities for the company in both the public and private sectors.
Mark has joined Covanta from SITA UK, where he was Business Development / IWM Project Manager for the last three years. At SITA, Mark was responsible for delivering the Cornwall Integrated Waste Management 'Pathfinder' PFI and also worked on the Northumberland and Lancashire bids. Previously Mark worked for Thames Waste Management Ltd in a project management capacity in both the UK and Germany. Mark has been working in the waste industry since 1993.
As Development Manager for Covanta Energy, Mark's first priority will be to increase Covanta's participation in Local Authority procurements. Covanta currently operates 32 Energy from Waste (EfW) plants worldwide, making it the largest EfW supplier internationally.
