Energy-from-Waste Covanta Solutions Take A Wild Guess

31 OCT 2006 - Covanta Energy in the UK

31 October 2006

Covanta Energy, a leading international waste treatment provider, is now entering the UK market, headed up by Managing Director Malcolm Chilton.

Covanta Energy is the largest EfW supplier in the world - 50% larger than its nearest rival - operating 32 plants and treating 15 million tons of municipal waste every year. The new head office is based at Kingswinford in the West Midlands, although Covanta is planning to operate facilities throughout the UK.

Malcolm Chilton said "What makes Covanta different is that we take the risk out of waste treatment. We ensure that there is minimal risk to the environment and no risk to the local authority in meeting its Landfill Diversion targets. We do this by managing the process from start to finish."

Covanta undertakes all design, construction and project management elements when developing new sites; reducing the risk and additional cost of using turnkey contractors.

"Uniquely, we design, finance, build, own and operate all of our plants," added Malcolm. "Our many years of experience go into each new facility to develop the most competitive and environmentally sound solution."

Covanta will be exhibiting at the Society of Procurement Officers (SOPO) conference in early November and also at the Global Waste Strategies Summit in December.
