Poolbeg Waste-to-Energy Project

The Poolbeg Waste-to-Energy project, located in Dublin is a Public Private Partnership with Dublin City Council (representing the four local authorities of Dublin). The facility, located on the Poolbeg Peninsula, will generate electricity for up to 50,000 homes and district heating for up to a further 60,000 homes from 600,000 tonnes of waste that would have otherwise gone to landfill.

More than 50 percent of the energy produced will be classed as renewable, helping Ireland to meet its renewable targets.

The Dublin project is expected to recommence construction in the fourth quarter of 2012.
