Malcolm Chilton, Managing Director
Malcolm Chilton is Managing Director of Covanta Energy. Previously he was a Founding Director of Energy Power Resources Ltd (EPR). Prior to EPR, Malcolm was a Director of AEP Ltd, now part of Veolia. For much of the 1990s Malcolm was chairman of the Energy-from-Waste Association, an industry association set up to lobby government on issues affecting the Energy-from-Waste industry.
Robin Treacher, Director of Communications
Robin Treacher was appointed as Director of Communications for Covanta Energy in May 2010. Prior to joining Covanta, Robin worked at Quantum PR (formerly DTW Vavasour) as a founding Director leading the waste management section. He has over 25 years’ experience in the industry, specialising in strategic PR, crisis PR, media training, planning, environment and local government.
David Massingham, Director of Public Affairs
David joined Covanta in January 2011. Prior to this, he was a Director of Politics International where he led the resources and sustainability practice and worked on PFI/PPP projects. David began his career in the civil service, working in the Departments of the Environment and Transport, the Cabinet Office and in the UK representation to the European Union. He is a qualified planner and has over 20 years’ experience of the political and policy aspects of infrastructure development.
Peter Wright, Development Director
Peter Wright joined Covanta Energy as the company’s Development Director in April 2008. His great experience within the waste management and renewable energy industries is invaluable in heading the company's developments following Covanta’s bids to build Energy-from-Waste facilities across the UK. Prior to joining Covanta, Peter was Head of Development at SITA UK.
Paul Cole, Engineering Director
Prior to joining Covanta, Paul worked with ALSTOM Power Projects as a Project Manager and before this he worked for Cinergy Global Power (formerly Midlands Power International) as an Asset Manager and Project Development Manager for International energy projects. In total
Paul has over 30 years experience’ in the private and public power sector.
Fiona Penhallurick, Director of Legal Services
Fiona joined Covanta in Autumn 2009 and brings with her vast legal experience. Prior to working at Covanta, Fiona worked for Waste Recycling Group (WRG), where she was Group Counsel for its UK projects, which included playing a vital role in taking the Wrexham Waste PFI to financial close in 2007. She previously held several legal and commercial positions with National Grid plc and GEC subsidiary, GPT Limited.
Steven Jones, Finance Director for Europe
Steven Jones is the Finance Director for Europe for Covanta Energy and is responsible for the investment analysis of acquisition opportunities within Covanta’s European business. He first joined Covanta in 2001 and since then has held a number of financial analysis and planning roles at Covanta and at American Ref-fuel, a privately held Energy-from-Waste firm that Covanta acquired in 2005. He previously served as a financial planning manager at Dun and Bradstreet, and has held management positions at chemical and manufacturing companies both in Europe and the United States.
Rachel Ness, Director of Planning
Rachel joined Covanta as Director of Planning in March 2009 from Cory Environmental, where she worked for nearly seven years before she left her position there as Director of Planning and Estates. Rachel was also Chair of the Environmental Services Association Planning Working Group for five years prior to moving to Covanta and has a wealth of over 15 years’ industry experience.
Stuart Sim, Director of Construction and Operations
Stuart joined Covanta in April 2009 from Veolia, where he was Managing Director of Energy Recovery. Stuart worked at Veolia for just over 15 years as the company’s key UK expert in Energy-from-Waste, responsible for all six of Veolia’s UK–based EfW plants as well as the construction of two of the company’s main sites. Stuart is also former Chairman of the Environmental Services Association’s Renewable Energy Committee.
